Cambodia denied Thai accusations of troop mobilisation

By Khmerization
Source: RFA

A senior Cambodian official has denied Thai accusation that the Cambodian military has moblised troops, staged military drills in using had grenades and firing long-range artillery.

Gen. Chumm Socheat (pictured), spokesman for the Cambodian Defence Ministry, said Cambodian troops are on high alert, but are still stationing quietly in the positions. "Our troops which have been stationed along the border have not been mobilised. We thought that this issue (troop movement) have been purely concocted by Thailand in order to created problems with Cambodia", he said.

A few days ago, Thai MCOT News quoted a Thai commander, Col. Prawit Hookaew, as saying that Cambodia is moblising and reinforcing troops to the border areas.

In the last few days since Thailand had walked out of a Unesco's World Heritage Convention in Paris in protest against Unesco's decision to submit Cambodia's Preah Vihear Management Plan for consideration, both Cambodia and Thailand had accused each other of reinforcing troops to the border areas in preparations for attacks on the other.

Cambodian military has accused Thai troops of conducting military drills along the borders close to Cambodian villagers, forcing Cambodian villagers to panic and fled their homes.

"This is between Thailand and the UN. Cambodia should butt out."

Maybe this is between Cambodia and the UN and Thailand should butt out.

Hun Sen is almost certainly not a good man or a democratic leader, but he has run rings round Abhisit without breaking a sweat. Surely it's time to get rid of this incompetent buffoon.

Khum Bula - Indeed you have hit the nail on the head, just like Hun Sen used PV to stir nationalist sentiment to help return him to power, so Abhisit is creating a situation for the next government to handle, (which will not be formed by AV) but because PV is such a hot issue in Thailand (in army circles at least) any failure (i.e. lose of land / sovereignty) by a politically inexperienced PM (yingluck) will be seized on and may result in a coup and the return of the Dems. So just like Hun Sen, AV is using PV for his own gain. (pot, kettle, black

The sentiment in Cambodia is that everyone, including the oppositions and foreign media supported Cambodia's way of handling of PV issue.
Hun Sen has a legitimate challenge to AV because his team said 'it is useless to be a member of such a world body.' If it is useless then why are you afraid of formerly denouncing it? Why pass the hot potatoes to the next government which I think in AV's heart will not be formed by Democrats.

When is Hun Sen going to stand up to Vietnam, which really is stealing Cambodian land on their border? Oops, I forgot Hun Sen is afraid of his masters in Hanoi. He knows the Thais won't attack him. Hanoi just might invade again

Mr. Oxford educated K.Abhisit is taken to school by lesser educated, but well capable ex-Khmer rouge Hun Sen.
Now who is making a fool of who???Well BP, you say "Mind Your Own Business" it is kind of late don't you think? Preah Vihear was not Thai's business but it is dragged into Thai politics by a group of zealous minority. Hun Sen, who I don't like that well, has every right to have his say since he is the leader of a country that own Preah Vihear.
May I say BP, you mind your own business! Report factual news instead of instigating a conflict with such inflaming title!!!

Before everyone jumps down the throat of Thailand, just remember the way Hun Sen used this very same issue (the temple) for his own political gain, by stirring up nationalist sentiment in Cambodian polls not 6 months ago. Sorry Hun Sen, but your rant seems more akin to the pot calling the kettle black.

Mr.Abhisit still repeatedly insists bilateral talk while the case has already been on international body's hand. There is no reason that Thailand fear of International bodies if it really want to end the conflict with Cambodia. Thailand should aplause Cambodia for sending the case to the UN, ASEAN, ICJ...Becasue those bodies are competent.

It is too late to value bilateral talk. Bilateral talk means to prolong the conflict at the Cambodia-Thai border claiming people's lives and demages, and to put Thailand in advantages from the case.

As is required under Article 35 of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, Thailand must submit its denunciation in writing to Unesco’s director-general and the action will take effect 12 months after official notice has been received. Thailand has not submitted a letter to UNESCO, and will still be bound by the rules of the Convention for the next 12 months. As a caretaker government, it is doubtful that letters involving foreign policy even be signed [legally]. Is the 2% vote from the PAD even worth war with Cambodia? Hun Sen effectively just called AV's bluff.

"He said if Cambodia sincerely wanted to solve bilateral problems, it should stop complaining to the international community about their border dispute, and resume bilateral negotiations with Thailand."

We always see the above statement when we talk about the conflict. Has Thai Government convinced enough to get problem solved? No, issues have been pending. That's the trick!

Only 4 days left until Judgement Day July 3, 2011!!!

The Democrat Albhisit and the Military Prayuth is working hard to drum up the war of words targeting Cambodia borders dispute to gain undecide vote from all the Yellow Shirt fans!!!!!!!

The two twin magicians are running out of time to come up with new tricks!!!!!!!!

So, intead, they kept using same old tactics to glamorize nationalism!!!!!!!

I do not think it will work this time because only 3 1/2 days left for voters to decdide.

The Thai citizens voters had already made up their mind deep within their heart and soul of who they going to award to be the next respectful Prime Minister!!!!!!!

Hun Sen needs to worry about the bad kharma he's going to have for selling 50% of his own people's land out from under them to foreign investors. He's also guilty of aiding and abetting a fugitive, and providing him with a base of operations to undermine their neighbor. For that alone Thai F-16's would be justified to strafe Hun Sen while he's on the golf course at his nation's expense.

Hun Sen is correct. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva should either put up or shut up. Idle threats of quitting Unesco is a child's game. I hope the Thai government will also quit the UN. They have been a member since December of 1946 and have never respect UN law unless it's in their own benefit.

Thailand's "we have withdrawn but we have not withdrawn" stance may be for the DEM's hope of gaining votes from extremists, but it is an international issue, (and a disgrace for Thailand), not an internal Thai issue.

Hun Sen is entitled to challenge Abhisit on this.

Sure; I believe you AV. Thailand withdrawal WHC has nothing to do with election. The report of Thai's soldeirs wearing Cambodian uniform is related to game of strip poker right? We shall see if you are telling the truth or not soon. We learned from the past that you flip flop depended on the wind blown. If it has nothing to do with election then why back down PM Hun Sen's challenge. He is not interferring with your election; he wishes you good luck because you needed more luck then he is according to the poll.

Why WHC decision is not Cambodia's concern? PM Hun Sen right about Abhisit is not man enough to take any responsibility for all the failures he has created. He is good for flip flopping and shamelessly pointing finger at the others for his own mistake. I think if he still wants to run for any public office after he lost this election, he need to take many more classes including learn something from PM Hun Sen.
