PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - The software development outsourcing is one of the new phenomenon business, and human development in Cambodia, Ken Chanthan, Chairman and CEO of KEN GROUP OF COMPANIES and currently Chairman of Cambodia ICT Alliance told Cambodia Herald.
“I believe that information communication technology (ICT) is the most fundamental and effective competency for a society to enhance government functions, social services and industry productivity which are all crucial for human development in the country”, he said with optimistic with this sector.
According to Ken Chanthan, up to now there are at least 10 Cambodian IT companies are providing the software development outsourcing under sub contractor with other IT companies abroad.
The software development outsourcing is much more progress in Cambodia today, even my own company, I have sub contracts with my partners in Romania and South Korea, and we are exploring some more contractor in EU and U.S.
However IT is the most productive sector, but the country has to further improve the sectors.
Developing the competency requires tight collaboration between academy and industry. In the education side, we have to improve academic curricula and programs so that the students can perform global-level ICT projects, he said.
In the industry side, we have to create a new industry, global ICT outsourcing to create demand for the global-level students. This way, we will be able to accumulate ICT competency in Cambodia in relatively a short-term. That competency can then be utilized toward Cambodia’s societal need. In fact, India is a great example of this, he said.

I am so proud of Cambodian 20 years after. The software development and the IT sector is rising. The only people that doesn't trust the IT is the Cambodian Government. Computer don't lied and corrupted like Cambodian government. Last year in 2011 went to Phnom Penh, witness a Hit and Run. Got the plate number turn over to the Police...what can do? NOTHING. What's the point of having plates when you trace?
Corrupted government is above the law. IT sector will never grow to our potential unless we have a new government.

It's good to hear that now Cambodia is also moving towards outsourcing, at the starting edge there were very few companies that used to outsource but now this has increased upto good number and still expanding. Looking at the benefits of outsourcing this was a obvious thing.
